DENISON, TX (08/30/2016) — A rear-end collision on Highway 75 early Tuesday evening claimed the life of Ray Alan Watson.
Police have identified 53-year-old Ray Alan Watson as the victim of a fatal car accident that happened on Highway 75 near Morton Street in Denison, Texas.
Authorities reported that at around 5:00 p.m., Ray Watson was rear-ended by a pickup truck as he was slowing down for traffic.
“We had a vehicle that was either slowed or stopped, unclear right at this point, in the northbound lane of 75, had a pick-up come up behind the vehicle, did not apply brakes in time to avoid a collision,” said Lt. Mike Eppler, Denison Police Department.
Officials believe that traffic had become congested due to another accident.
An investigation is underway.
Commentary
According to police, no charges have been filed since the investigation is ongoing. However, liability in this accident seems pretty straight-forward. I would be surprised if the at-fault driver isn’t charged with vehicular manslaughter in the coming days or weeks. More information will become available once the investigation is complete.
To those affected by this crash, we offer our condolences.
