SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX (10/10/2016) — A wrong-way bus accident claimed the life of Perry Evans on Monday morning.
According to authorities, 52-year-old Perry Wayne Evans (a special education teacher) and 33-year-old Larry Resendiz were killed in a bus accident that happened along Highway 19 in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that at around 6:48 a.m., Resendiz was traveling northbound in a white Ford Mustang when he veered into southbound lanes of traffic and collided head-on with a North Hopkins Co-op Education school bus.
Perry Evans (the driver of the bus) and Resendiz both died in the wreck. One passenger on the school bus, special needs assistant Cherrie Bolden Brantley, sustained injuries to her wrist and leg and was transported to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. There were no students on the bus at the time of the accident.
This accident remains under investigation.
