BATESVILLE, TX (10/29/2016) — A fatal head-on crash on Saturday claimed five lives: Lloyd Halsell, Darlene Wilson, Maryann Garcia, Rudy Salas, and Lupe Garza Salas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified the five victims involved in a two-vehicle accident along Highway 57 in Batesville, Texas as: 58-year-old Lloyd Halsell, 66-year-old Darlene Wilson, 56-year-old Maryann Garcia, 66-year-old Rudy Salas, and 61-year-old Lupe Garza Salas (all of San Antonio).
DPS reported that the driver of a Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on US 57, when shortly after 10:00 a.m., he or she crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Nissan Altima.
Lloyd Halsell and Darlene Wilson, who were occupants of the Altima, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Rudy and Lupe Salas, who were occupants of the Camry, also died at the scene. The third occupant of the Camry, Maryann Garcia, was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where she later died.
This collision remains under investigation.
Commentary
