DEWEYVILLE, TX (12/04/2016) — Former LC-M High School student Taylor Luther was killed in a head-on collision on Sunday afternoon.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified 18-year-old Taylor Nicole Luther (of Orange) as the victim of a fatal accident on Highway 87 near Deweyville, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 12:30 p.m., 35-year-old Jared Michael Moore was traveling southbound in a 2014 Dodge pickup truck when he hydroplaned and struck a 2001 Ford Escape, driven by Luther, head-on.
Luther was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
“It is with heavy hearts that the LC-M Band Boosters offer our condolences to the family of Taylor Luther. Taylor was a beautiful and talented young woman,” read a statement released by The Band Boosters.
Moore was taken to the same hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
