TRAVIS COUNTY, TX (12/09/2016) — A construction-related accident on Friday afternoon claimed the life of AT&T employee David Jur.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 46-year-old David Jur (of Elgin) was killed in an accident involving a dump truck in the suburban Sweetwater community of Travis County, Texas.
The DPS reported that at shortly after 2:00 p.m., Jur—an AT&T technician—was working on a home in the 18600 block of Mckay Cove when a dump truck tipped over as it was unloading dirt. A portion of the truck landed on Jur, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. An investigation is being conducted by the DPS.
“The back of the truck was extending to let go of the load, and then somehow the balance was lost and the truck went over on its side,” said Kristen Dark, Senior Public Information Officer with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. “It’s an extremely tragic event in our hearts go out to the family of this individual.”
According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the driver of the dump truck was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
