LONGVIEW, TX (01/11/2017) — A motorcycle accident on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of Brett Crump.
Police identified 31-year-old Brett Alan Crump (of Longview) as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in the 3500 block of Gilmer Road, near Wain Drive, in Longview, Texas.
Officials reported that at around 12:16 p.m., 47-year-old Eugene Allen Jones was traveling northbound on Gilmer (TX-300) in a 2015 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck when he failed to yield right-of-way to an oncoming 2014 EBR motorcycle—driven by Crump—as Jones attempted to make a left turn onto to Wain Drive. As a result of this maneuver, the two vehicles collided in the southbound lane of Gilmer.
Crump, who was wearing a helmet, sustained serious head injuries and did not survive the collision. Jones was ticketed for failure to yield right-of-way.
Commentary
Authorities have already given the at-fault party a ticket for this incident; however, additional charges might be filed against this driver depending upon the results of the investigation. We will provide updates as they become available.
