HOUSTON, TX (1/22/2017) — Marta Argueta has died following a two-vehicle accident east of downtown on Sunday afternoon.

According to authorities, 69-year-old Marta Argueta was killed in a car accident that occurred at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Hackney Street in Houston, Texas.
Police stated that Manuel Argueta was traveling with his wife, Marta, in a Toyota Corolla when the female driver of an SUV drove through a stop sign and collided with their vehicle. Marta was cut out from the passenger side and taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she later died. Manuel survived the accident.
Neighbors told reporters that the stop sign had been loose recently, and police noted that the sign had fallen to the ground prior to the accident occurring. It’s unclear whether or not the city was alerted to the issue prior to the wreck. Officials are currently investigating.
