DUMAS, TX (02/07/2017) — Four people are dead after a driver heading the wrong way on Highway 287 caused a serious accident on Tuesday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 38-year-old Kenzy Seme (of Dumas), 45-year-old Marc Joseph (of Dumas), 57-year-old Jose Chavez (of Spearman), and 69-year-old Gregorio Avalos-Rivera (of Spearman) were killed in a crash that occurred on Highway 287, approximately two miles north of Dumas, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 5:19 a.m., Avalos-Rivera was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla southbound in the northbound lanes of US-287, when he collided with a northbound 2011 Nissan Rogue—driven by Joseph—head-on.
Joseph and his passenger, Kenzy Seme—as well as Avalos-Rivera and his passenger, Chavez—were pronounced deceased at the scene. All were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
DPS is investigating this accident.
