This is definitely not the way to start the new week. A red pickup was driving the wrong way on I-30 in Fort Worth and collided head-on with an oncoming fuel tanker. The resulting fire burned for hours. The 18-wheeler driver was killed, and the pickup driver was hospitalized.
Investigators still haven’t determined why the pickup was driving the wrong way – or how it managed to enter that side of the freeway to begin with. A commenter on WFAA’s website speculated that alcohol was a factor, but until police file their report we shouldn’t jump to conclusions.
One thing is certain – this was a preventable tragedy. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased. Drive safely, Dallas.
