TXDOT, HOW MANY WRECKS BEFORE U FIX THIS ON RAMP?!
Business signs and billboards have long been ridiculed for non sequiturs and funny missteps. But the one sitting at Main / I35 RE/MAX office in Lewisville, TX is more philanthropic. As WFAA reports, realtor Lee Holtzman witnessed over twenty car accidents on the I35 southbound entrance ramp outside his office and decided to take action. After two wrecks occurred there this past Tuesday, Lee put his sign up, requesting TXDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) to repair the highway ramp and warning commuters to drive slowly.
In his interview, Lee pointed out the uneven surfaces that he believes cause vehicles to lose traction – especially during the rain. Using Google Maps street-view function, we were able to see what he’s talking about. Sure enough, fifty years of traffic and Dallas weather have worn sections of the ramp down – particularly in the dangerous part where vehicles change lanes to merge. It’s no stretch to conclude that, coupled with rain, this makes for a deadly piece of driving.
Dallas auto accident lawyer Jeff Rasansky commends Lee for speaking up on behalf of his community. This isn’t the first time we’ve highlighted a DFW resident taking care of his community. Our team is regularly encouraged by stories like this where Texans take ownership of their hometowns. Keep up the good work, Lee!
