AUBREY, TX (06/10/2017) — One man has been arrested for intoxication manslaughter following a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a motorcycle in Denton County Saturday afternoon.
According to police reports, the fatal crash occurred in the 9700 block of Highway 377 (near the Belew Road intersection) in far north Aubrey, Texas at around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. 52-year-old Greg Muirhead (of Corinth) and 50-year-old Shannon Foster Casada (of Dallas) were traveling northbound on US-377, when police say 47-year-old Barry Keith Boyd (of Tioga) swerved in front of the couple’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle to make an abrupt, illegal U-turn.
Investigators note that Muirhead apparently slammed on his brakes in an attempt to avoid Boyd’s pickup truck, but wasn’t able to avoid crashing into the left side of the truck. Tragically, Muirhead and Casada were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
Incredulously, the driver of the pickup truck allegedly fled the scene of the accident, but was caught by authorities a few miles away. Boyd was booked into the Denton County Jail on two counts of felony intoxication manslaughter and one felony count of causing an accident involving injury or death. His bail has been set at $300,000. According to reports, Boyd had previously been arrested at least three times for DWI-related offenses in Denton County dating back to 2009.
Muirhead and Casada were engaged in April of this year, and had planned to marry on October 15th, 2017.
