HUMBLE, TX (03/26/2016) — A drunk driving accident on Saturday night left Emily Agirre dead and Jose Alvarez critically injured.
According to authorities, Emily Agirre was killed in a head-on car accident that took place in the 400 block of Atascocita Road in Humble, Texas.
Police reported that at around 11:20 p.m., Jose Alvarez was traveling westbound in a red two-door Hyundai, when an black Ford F-150 headed eastbound—driven by Rodrigo Cornejo—veered into oncoming traffic and struck the Hyundai head-on.
Alvarez and his passenger, Agirre, were both transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition, where Agiree later lost her life.
Cornejo was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where his blood alcohol levels were tested.
Results confirmed impairment, and Cornejo was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Commentary
Drunk driving accidents are one of the most devastating types of collisions, in part because they are 100% preventable. In light of this tragedy, we would like to extend our condolences to those affected by this accident.
