MERETA, TX (05/15/2016) — Albert Terrazas was killed in a car accident on Sunday afternoon after another driver ran a stop sign.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified 54-year-old Albert B. Terrazas as the victim of a fatal accident that occurred at the intersection of Lipan Creek Road and Phinney Road in Mereta, Texas.
According to DPS spokesman Justin Baker, at around 12:00 p.m., 31-year-old Cody A. Weishuhn was traveling eastbound in a 2012 Chevrolet 2500 when he ran a stop sign and broadsided Terrazas’ southbound, 2012 Chevrolet 1500.
Terrazas died at the scene. Weishuhn suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
Baker stated that neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The driver who caused this accident may face criminal charges, but this all depends on whether or not police decide to prosecute. What makes this so frustrating is that the accident was entirely preventable. Many people are emotionally hurt and grieving simply because one person failed to drive in a safe manner.
To those affected by this collision, we offer our condolences.
