While blood tests won’t be available for a couple weeks, investigators suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in a deadly head-on collision on I-45 this morning. As Fox 4’s website reported, Joseph Macias was driving a red Ford pickup at speeds pushing 75 miles per hour. Unfortunately, he was also driving southbound in the northbound lanes. After a few near-misses, Macias plowed head on into a Nissan carrying three people. The driver of the Nissan was killed, and the others were hospitalized.
This is one of those senseless car wrecks that frustrates even an experienced auto accident lawyer. One of the reasons we have a justice system is to deter would-be offenders by holding others accountable for their actions. And yet… even after years of doing so, we still are plagued by negligent drivers who think of no one but themselves.
Consider your fellow neighbors before getting behind the wheel. Look out for one another. And drive safely, Dallas.
