AMARILLO, TX (07/09/2016) — A car-vs-motorcycle wreck on Saturday night left Andy Cleaver with serious injuries.
The Amarillo Police Department (APD) identified 57-year-old Andy Marvin Cleaver as the victim of a car-vs-motorcycle accident that happened at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Western Street in Amarillo, Texas.
The APD reported that at around 8:20 p.m., 73-year-old Connie Whitt was traveling northbound on Western Street in Ford Crown Victoria when she attempted to turn left onto Hillside Avenue. Cleaver, who was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Western, collided with Whitt’s vehicle in the middle of the intersection.
Andy Cleaver was transported to a nearby area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Whitt refused treatment at the scene.
The APD is currently investigating this crash.
Currently, it is unclear as to who had the right of way at the time of the accident; however, the crash is currently under investigation. Amarillo PD has announced that they have ruled out alcohol as a factor in this accident.
Interestingly, it appears as if the stoplight at Western and Hillside (58th Ave.) has undergone changes at some point in the past few years to add a flashing yellow turn arrow. Does this intersection have a history of right-of-way car accidents?
