Auto-Pedestrian Accident Kills Devon Jesse in Watauga, TX

WATAUGA, TX (09/13/2015) — Birdville ISD student Devon Jesse was struck and killed by a car on Sunday.

Police have identified Devon Jesse as the 14-year-old boy who died following an auto-pedestrian accident on Sunday in Watauga, Texas.

According to reports, Jesse was crossing the 5900 block of Watauga Road (near Saramac Drive) when a female driver struck him just before 1:40 p.m. Jesse had a skateboard with him at the time, but it is unclear whether he was riding at the time of the accident.

Cody Ray, who was with Jesse when the accident occurred, stated that the woman did not stop initially and told him that she believed she had struck a dog. A local business owner/ witness was able to flag her down, and she returned to the scene.

A small memorial was built at the site on Monday for the Haltom High School freshman. A candlelight vigil is planned Tuesday night from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in front of Snoopy’s Dog House pet grooming shop, located at 6031 Watauga Road.

I hardly knew Devin, but we were friends once. We drifted apart before I moved. When we drifted I was rood to him. When I heard he was dead I wished I could have corrected what I said to him, but you can't change the past. you can, though, choose your future. I will try to remember Devin in the best way I can. The women who hit him still should have stopped to see if he was ok. I'm so sorry that this happened. he didn't deserve this. I could talk to Devin, I would apologize for everything. I wish I could have been to the funeral, but I found out after the funeral already happened. It's hard to believe he is dead. No matter what I said about Devin I cared for him like I would care for a brother. I pray that god is watching him in heaven.

My prayers are with Devons family. Shame on Watauga for not doing a thorough investigation. Surely protocol for a death in Watauga involves an indepth investigation. And the public deserves to know. I drive on this road every day and the speed limit is only 35 mph and it is heavily patrolled. Watauga police, let's do more then hand out tickets in your city and let's see some real detective work.

my nephew did not deserve to die this way! The lady was not even ticketed breathalyzer done or even her phone records taken! You hit someone that hard you definitely were not paying attention you were looking down! This lady has to be reading these posts to know what's going on she needs to face up to her consequences turn herself in the family needs to have closure on this! And she does probably know someone within the community who has a lot of money and that's why she's not been arrested!
