AUSTIN, TX (07/02/2015) — Austin police have identified 50-year-old Benjamin Curt Smith as the victim of a fatal head-on collision that occurred on July 2nd.
The Austin Police Department (APD) have confirmed that Benjamin Curt Smith, 50, died after a head-on collision in the 900 block of East Koenig Lane (near Highland Mall) in Austin, Texas on July 2nd, 2015.
According to reports, Smith was traveling westbound on E. Koenig Lane at about 6:00 p.m. when he was struck by a wrong-way driver in a black Ford Escape traveling eastbound in the westbound lane.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Escape was transported to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The APD continues to investigate this crash. Charges against the driver of the Escape are pending.
