AUSTIN, TX (11/14/2015) — A drunk driver, who ran a red light, caused a wreck that claimed the life of Bill Colbert early Saturday morning.
According to Austin police, 60-year-old Bill Colbert was identified as the victim of a drunk driving accident on Saturday morning in Austin, Texas.
Police reported that the accident occurred at the intersection of Slaughter Lane and Mopac Expressway when 21-year-old Anthony Anania ran a red light and struck Colbert’s vehicle.
Claire Gillen, Colbert’s daughter, stated that her father was on his way home from Donn’s Depot—a live music venue where he had been performing for more than 20 years.
“It’s so confusing. We don’t know why he was taken when he was,” said Gillen. “But he would want us to be at peace.”
Austin police have charged Anania with intoxication manslaughter.

Drunk driving related deaths are unfortunately on the rise, and we urge all drivers to find other means of transportation if you’re planning on drinking. Never let friends get behind the wheel when intoxicated. If we all make an effort to curb this dangerous practice, we can reduce the number of drunk driving related deaths.
