PLAINS, TX (07/05/2016) — An 18-wheeler accident claimed the life of Bobby Walters, and injured Jose Hernandez and Dolores Vasquez on Tuesday evening.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 49-year-old Bobby Lee Walters was killed, and 57-year-old Dolores Vasquez and 59-year-old Jose Guadalupe Vasquez Hernandez both suffered injuries, following an 18-wheeler accident that occurred along Highway 214 in Plains, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 5:20 p.m., Walters was traveling northbound in a 2016 Dodge pickup truck when he veered into the southbound lane, directly in the path of a Western Star semi-tractor—driven by Hernandez.
Police stated that Hernandez attempted an evasive maneuver to avoid a collision, but he was unable to.
Bobby Walters was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jose Hernandez and his passenger, Dolores Vasquez, were taken to Yoakum County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
The DPS is currently investigating this wreck.
