BEAUMONT, TX (05/13/2017) — A drunk driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after fatally striking a good Samaritan on the north side of Beaumont on Eastex freeway.
UPDATE: 11/02/2017: A grand jury in Beaumont has indicted 34-year-old Patrick Grandchampt for intoxication manslaughter.
According to police, 37-year-old Brandi Milliner (of Kirbyville) was one of several Good Samaritans who stopped at the scene of a crash involving a black Ford Focus near the 4600 block of Eastex (just north of Lucas Street) at around 12:30 a.m. late Friday night / early Saturday morning.
As Brandi Milliner was checking on the disabled vehicle, police say 33-year-old Patrick Grandchampt (of Nederland) drove his Ford F-150 into the area and struck Milliner.
Milliner was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, but died from her injuries a short time later.
Grandchampt was arrested at the scene after officers determined that he had been drinking, and is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail under an intoxication manslaughter charge.
