WICHITA FALLS, TX (06/05/2015) — Juan Calixto, 19, and Antonio Sanchez, 17, were killed after a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Omar Vera crashed into Holiday Creek in Wichita Falls, Texas early Friday morning.
According to reports, 19-year-old Juan Calixto and 17-year-old Antonio Sanchez were killed just after 1:00 a.m. on Friday morning after the vehicle they were passengers in crashed into Holiday Creek along Highway 287 near Old Jacksboro Highway.
Police state that 21-year old Omar Vera was traveling southbound along the access road of Highway 287 when he lost control of his car and crashed into the city’s circle trail system before landing in Holiday Creek.
Vera had three other passengers in his vehicle: Calixto, Sanchez, and a front seat passenger. Vera and the front seat passenger managed to escape the vehicle before it sunk. However, Calixto and Sanchez were trapped in the car.
“When police and first responders came on scene there were two individuals walking around. They were able to get them taken care of and get them to the hospital, and the fire department assisted in removing two other individuals from the vehicle” said Public Information Officer Harold Mcclure.
All four individuals were taken to United Regional via ambulance; however, Calixto and Sanchez later died from their injuries.
Vera is now charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
