LIBERTY, TX (08/02/2015) — 32-year-old Candice Wise was killed, and 39-year-old William Kelley was injured, after their vehicle was T-boned on Sunday night.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 32-year-old Candice Wise was killed on Sunday night after the vehicle she was a passenger in was struck by a truck at the intersection of Texas 105 and Texas 146 in Liberty, Texas.
DPS Trooper Christopher Cash stated that William Kelley, 39, and Wise were traveling southbound on Texas 146 in a Ford Transport van with the business name “Oracle” on its side. When their vehicle reached the Texas 105 intersection, they were broadsided by a red Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by 47-year-old James Barry Jones. “The Tundra never stopped [before the collision],” according to Cash.
The impact caused the van to flip numerous times before it came to rest on the south side of Texas 105—approximately 300 feet from the intersection.
Candice Wise died on impact. William Kelley was transported via air ambulance (CareFlite) to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Jones, the at-fault driver, refused treatment and was taken from the scene to be tested for drugs or alcohol.
According to Cash, investigators believe alcohol could be a factor in this fatal crash.
