GROESBECK, TX (03/22/2016) — Groesbeck Police Chief Chris Henson was struck by an 18-wheeler early Tuesday morning while directing traffic.
According to authorities, Groesbeck Police Chief Chris Henson sustained non-life-threatening injuries on Tuesday morning after he was struck by an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Highway 164 and Highway 14 in Groesbeck, Texas.
Officials reported that at around 8:00 a.m., Chief Henson was directing traffic when he signaled the driver of an 18-wheeler to turn left onto Highway 14 from Highway 164. As the driver turned, the back of the trailer struck Henson.
“Everybody that was at the intersection immediately got out of their vehicles and ran out there,” said Sonya Gordon, a manager at Josie’s Drive-In Groceries. “I did see his leg move and his arm move. And when they were putting him in the ambulance, I saw him cover his face with his arm so I knew that he was at least alive.”
