TYLER, TX (06/22/2016) — Christopher Rennison has died following an early Wednesday morning motorcycle accident involving an 18-wheeler.
According to Tyler police, 31-year-old Christopher S. Rennison (of Longview) was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 271 and Loop 323 in Tyler, Texas.
Authorities reported that at around 6:00 a.m., the driver of a Hubert Glass Oil Company Freight Liner 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on the 271 extension, when he turned across southbound lanes of traffic in order to enter the parking lot of a Valero gas station. Police say that the truck driver failed to yield right-of-way to Rennison, who was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on 271.
The two vehicles collided head-on in the southbound lanes. Officials stated that Rennison, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was deceased by the time officers arrived on scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
This accident remains under investigation.

Police are currently trying to figure out why the driver of the 18-wheeler did not yield to southbound traffic. Charges have not been filed at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
