SANTA FE, TX (08/13/2015) – A man has been arrested after teenager Douglas Bleimeyer Jr. was fatally struck by a vehicle Thursday while riding his bike.
According to authorities, 16-year-old Douglas William Bleimeyer Jr. was the victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Thursday in Santa Fe, Texas.
Family members of Bleimeyer stated that the teen was riding this bicycle home after visiting his girlfriend’s house when someone struck him with their vehicle at around 11:00 p.m. on FM 646. Douglas Bleimeyer Jr. (known as DJ to his friends) died instantly.
Police have now arrested Michael Shawn Williams, the man they believe caused the accident. Santa Fe police say Williams’ F-250 pickup truck was recovered in town Friday morning, and Williams was arrested in League City, Texas on Sunday for an outstanding warrant out of Galveston County.
According to witnesses, Williams was driving recklessly shortly before the accident, and was allegedly speeding and weaving around other vehicles.
Santa Fe Officials say that telecommunication officers, Santa Fe patrol officers and social media all played a role in helping “identify and locate a vehicle with damage consistent with the scene and descriptions given by witnesses.”
