DALLAS, TX (02/15/2017) — An accident involving a drunk driver on Wednesday morning left two people injured; one critically.
Dallas police reported that two people (including one pregnant woman) were injured in a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Buckner Boulevard and Military Parkway in Dallas, Texas.
According to authorities, at around 2:30 a.m., 27-year-old Edwardo Rodarte-Ortiz was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Military Parkway in a gold Mercedes when he collided with a Saturn sedan.
The Saturn was occupied by two people: the 19-year-old male driver and a 23-year-old female passenger who is said to be four months pregnant. The driver of the Saturn was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a nearby area hospital in critical condition with a broken leg and internal bleeding. The pregnant woman was also taken to the hospital for an evaluation and treatment of injuries.
Police say that Rodarte-Ortiz was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash, and was arrested for intoxication assault.
