A devastating head-on crash in Ector County, Texas occurred on October 10, leaving two Odessa residents dead.
44-year-old David Medrano and 33-year-old Maxton Winkler were both killed in the accident that took place on Loop 338.
According to initial reports, Medrano was driving a 2019 Ford F-250 northbound while Winkler was driving southbound in a 2021 Chevrolet 2500. For reasons still under investigation, Medrano’s truck crossed over into the southbound lane and collided with Winkler’s vehicle.
First responders arrived to find both drivers unresponsive. Medrano and Winkler were pronounced dead at the scene by Ector County medical staff.
The tragic accident remains under investigation. Determining why Medrano’s truck entered the wrong lane will be a key focus for authorities. They will also assess whether speed, distraction, or impairment were factors in the collision.
