FORT WORTH (02/10/2015) — 51-year-old David Rajski was killed Tuesday after a teenage driver rear-ended his disabled vehicle on the service road of a Fort Worth highway.
According to police, a red pickup truck traveling westbound on the Northwest Loop 820 service road crashed into the back of a van which was stopped on the shoulder near Marine Creek Parkway, shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The accident left 51-year-old David Rajski, of Springtown, with critical injuries. Rajski was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, but was pronounced deceased at 7:59 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Early reports stated that Rajski had been walking along the shoulder to get assistance for his disabled vehicle, but police now say that they had “not determined whether he was walking, standing by his van or sitting in it when it was hit by a pickup truck.”
The teenage driver stopped after the accident and remained at the scene of the accident. Both him and his passenger apparently suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Later that evening, the 16-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested and charged with delinquent conduct/ criminally negligent homicide. Police say they believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash, but are not releasing the name of the boy due to his age.
