SAN MARCOS, TX (09/28/2016) — An accident involving an 18-wheeler claimed the life of Donald Wilson early Wednesday morning.
Authorities have identified 45-year-old Donald Eugene Wilson (of San Marcos) as the victim of a fatal accident that happened on southbound Interstate 35—on the McCarty Lane overpass—in San Marcos, Texas.
Officials reported that at around 2:00 a.m., 30-year-old Eric Edwin (of Cibolo) was driving southbound in a black Lexus when he collided with a disabled 18-wheeler stopped in the far right lane. According to police, the semi-truck (which was transporting bottled water) had previously hit debris in the road which disabled the truck’s air brakes.
Donald Wilson, the front seat passenger in the Lexus, lost his life in the wreckage. Edwin was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital for treatment; he is expected to recover.
An investigation is ongoing.
