DALLAS, TX (04/30/2015) — The driver of an 18-wheeler truck has been hospitalized after rear-ending another semi truck on Interstate 35E early Thursday morning in the Red Bird area of Dallas.
While the cause of the truck accident is still being investigated, Dallas police have said that the driver of a tractor trailer ran into the back of another big rig (which was carrying pipe) just before 5:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-35E, near E. Wheatland Road.
The collision crushed the front of the cab, pinning the driver inside. It took emergency crews 20 minutes to extract the victim from the vehicle, who was then taken to an area hospital. The extent of the driver’s injuries are not known, but it was reported that the victim suffered broken bones. Police say he was conscious and talking to paramedics before being transported. The other driver was apparently unhurt in the accident.
