NORTH ZULCH, TX (05/01/2016) — Dylan Dainty was killed, and his wife Jessica was seriously injured in a head-on wreck on Sunday.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 24-year-old Dylan Dainty died following a head-on car accident that occurred along Highway 190 in North Zulch, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 3:30 p.m., 19-year-old Kevin Banegas was traveling westbound in a 2007 Mazda when he lost control of his car, swerved into the eastbound lanes, and struck Dainty’s 2012 Hyundai SUV.
According to DPS spokesman Jimmy Morgan, Dainty lost his life at the scene.
Officials stated that Dainty’s passenger and wife, Jessica Dainty, was transported to CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Texas. She is currently listed in serious condition. Their two children, who were in their child safety seats in the back seat, did not sustain injuries.
This accident remains under investigation.
DPS reported that roads were dry at the time of the collision, meaning that weather does not appear to be a factor. This crash may have been caused by simple negligence, but could also be the result of distracted driving or intoxication—either of which could lead to charges against the driver who cause the accident. We will wait for the investigation to be completed, and provide more information as it becomes available.
To those affected by this accident, we offer our condolences.
