HOUSTON, TX (09/01/2015) — Kevin Thomas and Nancy Thomas have been identified as the victims of Tuesday night’s fatal highway collision.
Houston police have identified the two victims from Tuesday night’s fatal highway accident along 8 Beltway North and Antoine Drive: 15-year-old Kevin Scott Thomas and his 34-year-old mother, Nancy Thomas.
According to authorities, the Thomas family was traveling home from football practice on Tuesday night when a teenager ran a red light and struck the family’s Chevrolet Tahoe.
Kevin Thomas died from his injuries at the scene. He was a linebacker on the Benjamin O. Davis High School football team. “His dreams were to go to the NFL and take care of his mom and dad,” said Head coach James Showers.
Nancy Thomas was transported to the hospital after the crash, where she later died. Her youngest son, who was also a victim of the car wreck, was released from the hospital Thursday.
According to police, the 17-year-old driver who caused the crash was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
A total of six people were hospitalized following this fatal accident; eight people in all were injured.
The wreck remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Section. No charges have been filed as of Thursday.
