Dallas, Texas — Four men, who have not yet been named, have been hospitalized following a freak accident early Saturday morning (late Friday night) at about 1:40 a.m on the Dallas mixmaster.
According to Dallas Sheriff’s Department, a black truck was traveling on the ramp from Riverfront Boulevard to westbound Interstate 30 when it struck a light pole, ploughed through the overpass guardrail, and fell to the pavement below. The pickup truck landed on its roof, injuring all four male occupants. At this time, it is reported that all four men are alive, but their conditions are unavailable.
It should be noted that the area experienced heavy fog on that night, but it is unclear if weather played a factor in this accident. Workers placed temporary barriers at the scene, but the overpass is in serious need of repair. I would also go so far as to say that if the previous barriers were not enough to keep a vehicle from breaking through, then they need to be replaced with a much more robust system. Are these barriers not placed there to prevent cars from falling off? Why did the barriers fail this weekend?
