** Thankfully, no one injured in this Dallas car accident **
A woman pulling into the Petland store at Preston and Forest Lane in Dallas was surprised when her truck didn’t stop. Instead of pressing the brake pedal, she accidentally hit the accelerator. The results were captured on store security cameras. WFAA broke the story below:
Thankfully, no one was hurt. Auto accidents attorney Jeff Rasansky knows that innocent mistakes like this driver’s can lead to devastating consequences. In stop-and-go traffic, especially, a commuter mistaking the gas pedal for the brake can lead to you getting rear ended.
This happens more often than you might think. Remember the Toyota unintended-acceleration fiasco? As CNN reports, most of the accidents were actually caused by drivers mistaking the gas for the brake pedal. Says driving instructor Miriam Schottland:
It happens all the time because people panic and once the brain is in a panic mode, it stops thinking and your instincts take over.
Again, we’re all thankful no one was injured during the Petland storefront crash. If this gas pedal mistake had happened on the road, a serious car accident might have occurred.
