Two drivers killed in the same car wreck constituted the sixth and seventh deaths in vehicle accident in Grand Prairie this year. The June accident involved a wreck that has occurred in other areas around Dallas this year: one caused by a driver going the wrong way.
In this particular accident, the driver was headed the wrong way on US 287 at Lakeview Drive. The accident occurred at approximately 1 AM in the morning and the witness who called in the accident was on the phone when it occurred, according to a report in KVUE.com. The accident killed a 46-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman.
According to the witness, the cars were obliterated instantly in the accident. The cars included a Kia and a Honda CRV, the drivers of both of which were pronounced dead at the scene.
Accidents involving somebody heading the wrong way down busy roads have been disturbingly common this year. These accidents are among the most difficult to prevent and, even if the driver going the wrong way made an innocent mistake, they can end up killing people quite easily if they don’t immediately take actions to get themselves out of the roadway.
Legal Options
Obviously, going the wrong way on the highway is negligent. Negligence is at the heart of most lawsuits. If you have been struck by a driver who was going the wrong way on a one-way street or who is going in the wrong lane on a two-way street, you should consider contacting an attorney about the matter to see if you can file a lawsuit. If somebody in your family has died due to a driver exhibiting this sort of negligent behavior, you may want to consider filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver.
Filing a lawsuit will not be an option 100 percent of the time. In some cases, the attorney you consult with may believe that you don’t have a good chance of winning and that it’s not worth it to go ahead with the lawsuit. The only way to really know, however, is to contact an attorney. In instances such as these, contacting a Grand Prairie accident lawyer immediately is beneficial, as there are limits on how long you have to decide whether or not you’re going to file a lawsuit over the crash. If you decide to, make certain that you have a good attorney on your side.
