Commentary
While not much has been released about this circumstances leading to this accident, it’s important to note that almost half (49%) of all car accident fatalities occur when it is dark outside, even though only around 25% of travel occurs at night. Since nighttime driving isn’t completely avoidable, we do recommend taking extra precautionary measures if you’re driving at night; especially when traveling for long periods. For example, make sure that you’re alert, free of distractions, and minding the speed limit. Also, having a secondary driver to take over when you’re feeling lethargic is always recommended.
