DENTON, TX (06/06/2015) — 22-year-old Lauren Taylor Clearman was killed and 5-year-old Ryland Brown was seriously injured after a head-on collision in Denton, Texas along Sherman Drive last Saturday night.
Denton police have confirmed that Lauren Taylor Clearman, 22, was killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision in the 9900 block of Sherman Drive (FM 428) near Long Road in Denton, Texas last Saturday night. Five-year-old passenger Ryland Brown was also hospitalized in critical condition.
According to reports, Clearman was traveling along Sherman Drive in a Ford Focus when 33-year-old Jorge Ochoa struck her vehicle head-on in his Honda CR-V. Clearman died at the scene.
Police state that Ochoa was driving the wrong way along Sherman Drive at the time of the crash.
Clearman had a passenger with her; 5-year-old Ryland Brown, of Aubrey, who suffered serious injuries to his head and face. He was transported to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas for treatment.
Shane Kizer, spokesman for Denton police, stated that Brown’s condition is improving and the boy is expected to make a full recovery.
Ochoa suffered minor injuries and was charged with criminal negligent homicide and injury to a child. Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
