HOPKINS COUNTY, TX (06/16/2015) — Michael Wayne Evans, 32, was killed after a head-on collision at the intersection of Highway 11 and FM 275 early Tuesday morning.
According to reports, 32-year-old Michael Wayne Evans died following a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Highway 11 at FM 275 in Hopkins County, Texas (between Commerce and Sulphur Springs). The collision occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
A preliminary crash investigation indicated that Evans was traveling westbound along Highway 11 when he crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes. Jose Manuel Flores, 39, reportedly tried to swerve to avoid colliding with Evans, but despite his effort, the vehicles crashed into each other head-on.
Evans, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene; his body was taken to Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Jose Flores was transported to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. As of Tuesday afternoon, he was in stable condition.
