BOYD, TX (07/15/2015) — A head-on crash near Boyd, Texas last Wednesday left one man dead and a female seriously injured.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Brenda Ellis, of Dripping Springs, was seriously injured on Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Texas 114 near Boyd, Texas.
DPS Trooper Adam Lawson stated that at around 6:00 a.m., 24-year-old Andre Nelson was traveling eastbound on Texas 114 when his Ford Expedition veered into the westbound lanes and struck Ellis’ Kia minivan head-on.
“He never tried to swerve or evade, but the Kia did,” Lawson said.
The impact caused the minivan to land on its side near the Young Tank Truck entrance. She was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated.
DPS Sgt. Lonny Haschel stated that Ellis was airlifted (CareFlite) to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Nelson lost his life in the wreckage, according to Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Mandy Hays.
