COMANCHE, TX (10/03/2015) — A wrong way driver caused an accident that killed one man and two children, and left Johnece Shaw, Linda Sims, and Randy Don Kite Jr. seriously injured.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a head-on collision on Highway 36 Saturday afternoon killed Randy Don Kite Sr., 32, Kylee Kite, 6, and Jazmine Louise Williams, 10. The accident also injured Johnece Denette Shaw, 44, Linda Rocha Sims, 50, and Randy Don Kite Jr., 5.
According to DPS Trooper Troy Erichsen, at around 1:45 p.m., Kite Sr. was traveling southeast in a 1993 Dodge Dakota when he crossed into the oncoming lane and struck Shaw’s 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck head-on.
Randy Kite Sr., Kylee Kite, and Williams (who was a passenger in Shaw’s vehicle) were all pronounced dead at the scene.
Randy Kite Jr., was seriously injured and transported to McLane Children’s Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was reportedly the only one not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Authorities stated that both Shaw and Sims were also taken to Scott and White Hospital with incapacitating injuries.
An investigation is currently ongoing.
