PASADENA, TX (09/27/2015) — Henry James Vickers was identified as the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Sunday morning.
According to Pasadena police, 48-year-old Henry James Vickers III was killed early Sunday morning after he was struck by a motorist while riding his bicycle along the 4000 block of Spencer Highway in Pasadena, Texas.
The driver who struck Vickers did not stop and render aid or call the police; they simply fled the scene.
Investigators found a rear view mirror from a Ford pickup, and a tip recieved later that morning led police to a damaged pickup truck.
As Vickers’ family gathered at the scene on Monday, a police representative informed the family that the motorist planned to turn herself in later that day.
The woman believed to be the hit and run driver (who police are not yet publicly identifying) did report to the police department to speak with investigators, but surprisingly, she was allowed to leave and was not arrested. “Charges are still pending the outcome of the investigation,” said Vance Mitchell, Pasadena Police Department. “We know that she was the driver behind the wheel. There is still other evidence we have to process.”
Henry Vickers is survived by his wife and two young sons.
