A young boy was severely injured Thursday evening when an SUV struck his go-kart.
The auto accident occurred around six pm Thursday near the intersection of Twilight Trail and Floyd Road in Richardson. According to witnesses, a lady holding a white dog made a turn, went over a curb, and hit the 11 year-old on the sidewalk. To make matters worse, the driver failed to stop and give aid to the injured child and fled the scene.
This year has been a deadly one for hit and runs in Dallas. Just last month a red truck struck motorcyclist Roland Olvera, sending him over the guardrail to his death on the Dallas North Tollway. The driver of the truck never stopped and is still at large. This past Wednesday, Rafael Valdovinos and his wife Yolanda Guzman were hit at the intersection of Ferguson and Joaquin. Yolanda was killed instantly; Rafael has been hospitalized in critical condition. The driver fled the scene in what is described as a silver or white pickup truck with a brush guard.
In a recent update concerning the Richardson hit and run, police believe they have located the SUV used in the accident (a blue Toyota 4-Runner). They plan on searching it, hoping their investigation will lead them to the lady responsible. Criminal charges are pending due to the fact she failed to stop and help after hitting the boy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this young child. We look forward to his full recovery.
Drive safely, Dallas.
