FREDERICKSBURG, TX (12/03/2016) — A massive accident on Saturday afternoon claimed the lives of four people and left several others injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified four victims from a fatal accident at the intersection of FM 1376 and Highway 290 in Fredericksburg, Texas as:
- 58-year-old Keith Hoover (of Azel)
- 61-year-old Don Corley Jr. (of Azel)
- 17-year-old Destiny Conaster (of Round Rock)
- 15-year-old Evan Langbein (of Fredericksburg)
DPS reported that shortly before noon, Conaster was traveling westbound on Highway 290 in a white Toyota sedan when she struck a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by 66-year-old Wayne Talley (of Johnson City). The impact forced the Toyota into eastbound traffic, where it struck a white Chevrolet Suburban driven by 66-year-old Robert Thomas. The pickup truck skidded across Highway 290 and struck a tree.
Conaster and her passenger, Evan Langbein, lost their lives at the scene. Keith Hoover also died at the scene. Don Corley Jr. was taken to Hill Country Memorial Hospital, where he later died. Their wives, 57-year-old Carol Hoover and 61-year-old Sandra Corley (both of Azel), were taken to St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas for treatment.
Officials stated that Robert Thomas and his wife Sharon Thomas (both of Azel), were also transported to Hill Country Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Corley’s, the Hoover’s, and the Thomas’ were all occupants of the Suburban.
According to Sergeant Moreno, Wayne Talley (the driver of the pickup truck) was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas for treatment of injuries.
The DPS is investigating this accident.
Commentary
Although an official cause for this car accident has not been cited, police did note that it was raining at the time of the collision. Additional factors might have attributed to this crash, however, only a full investigation will offer those answers.
