Mothers Against Drunk Driving honored police officers at a Take The Wheel event on June 3 at the Dallas Arboretum. Travis Huckaby, an Irving Police Officer, was given the Enforcement Hero Award for his commitment to help stop drunk driving. Huckaby made 139 DWI arrests in 170 shifts in 2010.
Drunk drivers cause a number of car accidents, injuries and death every year. It is always nice to hear about police officers doing there best to stop drunk driving and for their hard work in keeping us Texans safe on the roads.
A total of 30 officers were honored for awards in three categories: Enforcement Hero, Commitment Hero and Commitment to Youth Hero. The Take The Wheel program is sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation.
Congratulations Travis Huckaby and all of the other officers who were given awards.
