GRAND PRAIRIE, TX (04/26/2014) — 35-year-old Jakori Perry, of Arlington, was killed in a motorcycle accident at around 2:00 a.m. late Friday night/ early Saturday morning due to the actions of a drunken driver.
According to reports, 26-year-old Amber Searcy (of Fort Worth) was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus westbound on I-30 while intoxicated, when she lost control around Belt Line Road and crashed into the center concrete barrier (AKA jersey barrier). Searcy and her two passengers exited the vehicle, which was left in the far left lane of traffic with no lights on.
Shortly after the accident, Jakori Perry crashed into the rear of the Taurus and was thrown from his motorcycle. Perry was pronounced dead at the scene. One of Searcy’s passengers was also injured in the initial crash and was transported to a local hospital.
Police say 26-year-old Amber Searcy was intoxicated at the time of the accident, and is now in police custody following the overnight accident. She has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
