SPRINGTOWN, TX (11/16/2015) — A rear-end collision, turned head-on wreck, killed Janean Kennedy and injured Nicholas Kennedy on Monday night.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 49-year-old Janean Shantale Kennedy was killed, and 20-year-old Nicholas Dean Kennedy was injured, after their vehicle was rear-ended in Springtown, Texas.
The DPS reported that the accident occurred along northbound FM 51 when 38-year-old Mark Preston Moore rear-ended Janean Kennedy’s 2011 Toyota Corolla with his 2008 Ford F-250 pickup truck as she was attempting to turn left onto Carter Road.
After the initial impact, Moore veered into the southbound lane and struck a 2015 Ford Fusion, driven by 52-year-old Andrea Kuhn Miller, head-on.
Janean Kennedy died in the wreckage. Her passenger, Nicholas Kennedy, was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas for injuries sustained in the crash.
The other two drivers were not injured in the wreck.
Commentary
The leading cause of rear-end car accidents are distracting driving, tailgating, and speeding. Was the responsible party driving in such a manner that could have lead to this accident? Maintaining proper speed, minimizing distractions, and maintaining a safe following distance are the easiest ways to prevent such an accident.
