JEFFERSON, TX (08/01/2016) — A head-on accident on Monday afternoon claimed the life of Janie Sawyer.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 62-year-old Janie Marie Sawyer died following a head-on collision that took place along FM 729 in Jefferson, Texas.
DPS Trooper Sgt. Sylvia Jennings stated that at around 1:00 p.m. an eastbound 2007 Mitsubishi—driven by 52-year-old Nancy Ann McCartan—crossed into the westbound lane and struck Sawyer’s 2011 Toyota head-on.
Sawyer did not survive the crash.
McCarten was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in critical condition.
“The traffic crash is still under investigation,” said Sgt. Jennings.
