NEW BRAUNFELS, TX (05/21/2016) — A wrong way accident, following a rear-end collision, claimed the life of Jennifer Cicha on Saturday.
According to authorities, 41-year-old Jennifer Cicha died following a three-vehicle accident that happened at the intersection of FM 725 and East Klein Road in New Braunfels, Texas.
David Ferguson, a New Braunfels Police Department communications coordinator, stated that a gray Dodge Durango and a black Ford F-150 pickup truck were involved in a rear-end collision when the 61-year-old male driver of the Durango attempted to flee the scene by driving around the wreckage and into oncoming traffic.
As he was making this maneuver, the driver of the Durango struck a blue Chevrolet Sonic, driven by Cicha.
“The original minor accident resulted in no injuries, however, the near head-on collision resulted in the death of the female driver of the Sonic,” Ferguson said.
Jennifer Cicha lost her life at the scene.
The driver of the Durango sustained critical injuries and was transported to Resolute Health Hospital for treatment.
“The circumstances surrounding the cause of these accidents remains under investigation to include possible criminal charges,” Ferguson said.
