AUSTIN, TX (08/21/2016) — A man is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter following a car accident which claimed the life of Jessica Mugica on Sunday morning.
Authorities have identified 17-year-old Jessica Nicole Mugica as the victim of a fatal drunk driving accident that occurred at 15010 North Interstate 35 (along the frontage road) near Wells Branch Parkway in Austin, Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that shortly before 4:00 a.m., 42-year-old Raymond Anthony Jones was driving while intoxicated and rolled his Dodge pickup truck, resulting in the death of Jessica Mugica, his passenger.
Jones claims the teenager was driving at the time, since he was too impaired to do so himself. However, police stated that due to how the victim was positioned in the vehicle when it was found, there was “no way” she was driving.
Officials have arrested and charged Jones with intoxication manslaughter.
This accident remains under investigation.
