ORANGE, TX (05/30/2016) — Motorcyclist John Castillo died following a car-vs-motorcycle collision that occurred on Monday night.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified 28-year-old John Micahel Castillo as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred at the intersection of FM 1442 and Cajun Way* in Orange, Texas.
The DPS reported that at around 11:30 p.m., 62-year-old Todd Longron was traveling southbound in a pickup truck when he attempted to make a left turn onto Cajun Way. During this manuever, Longron failed to yield right-of-way to Castillo’s northbound motorcycle and the two collided.
Castillo was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas for treatment of serious injuries; however, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Longron was not injured in the wreck.
This accident remains under investigation.
* Although Google Maps still lists Cajun Way as “Jap Lane,” the road was renamed in 2005.
